To use commercial rope access cleaning teams to remove and clean over ten years of grime, remove algae and moss growth from painted steel cladding, remove graffiti and redecorate lower levels and make general repairs to window seals.
The building is a prominent tower building in the main centre of a busy town. There was an issue in that there was a railway line and train station nearby. The building is located on the busy main through road for Pontypridd town centre which also ran along the river bank.
The client had received several proposals and quotations from companies to clean the building, most of which entailed several weeks of road closures and a weekend of rail closures all of which were unacceptable.
APT were called in by our client Carillion plc to look at the job and we put together a full H&S plan which would remove the road and rail closures and only cause partial road closures over a three day period.
We put in place a full traffic and pedestrian safety management system. We utilised on site our commercial cleaning and graffiti removal team, high level rope access abseiling team and soda blast cleaning systems to carry out the building facade deep cleaning.
We used specialist high level access lifts, high pressure jetting ,soda blasting systems, specialist graffiti removal products and APT branded algae and moss killer products to safely deep clean and remove the surface contaminants.
The commercial deep cleaning works took just over two weeks to complete and the industrial painting works and re-decoration took another week.
Excellent results with several letters written to the local authority praising the work and the local paper running a story on the long awaited building cleaning. The job saved several thousand pounds and limited disruption to local trading.
